The rate is $60 per hour, payable via Venmo, PayPal, personal check, or money order and due each session. Arrangements can be made on an individual basis for discounts based on long-term tutoring needs - contact me to find out more. If you are connected to the Military in some way, the rate is $50 per hour.
If you do not show up for a session - without prior notification and without rescheduling ahead of time - you forfeit half of the fee paid for that session. For example: at $60 for an hour, you would be refunded $30 for a no-show situation. If I do not show up for our scheduled session, it will be made up for free and the next session will be free, as well.
I can meet students at their homes or at meeting spaces that can be reserved. For example, I meet some students on a weekly basis at the Arlington Central Library; that library has meeting rooms that can be reserved in 30-minute increments for free. Coffee shops also work for me. If the student is a minor, then one responsible adult (e.g., a parent) must be present unless the parent or responsible adult waives that requirement in writing.
Up to three hours before the session start, a session can be rescheduled without charge. Within three hours of the session start, rescheduling will result in a charge of half the session rate. If the fee has already been paid, then half will be refunded. Otherwise, the following session will be at the normal rate plus half.
Yes - if you are not satisfied with the services provided for any single session, simply request a refund and reason and I will refund you the full amount paid for that session in the form originally submitted. Before a refund is given, I may offer an alternative solution for consideration. An example alternative solution would include a follow-up free session.
Your relevant class homework, exams, textbooks, notes, and anything else that you use to learn the material on your own should be brought to sessions for discussion. If they are not available, that is okay - I can work without them. Also bring paper, pencil/pen, eraser, and a compass/protractor (e.g., for geometry).
